What is a bion?
Bions (biological zones) are the landscapes tied to a specific Ancient. Each bion has its own unique characteristics to make it stand out from others. The well-being of a bion is tied to the health of its Ancient - if an the Ancient is killed, the bion also dies off. Our narrative has identified twenty-one different bions in the world today. Each bion is associated to a specific color that represents the mena, or energy of the land, speakers use to summon their elems.
What is an elem?
Elems are creatures summoned from the ground that are comprised of the landscapes they are summoned from. The elems composition is held together by a colorful energy known as mena. Only speakers can summon an elem and their level of experience will determine what size the elem will take. The speakers are limited to the shapes of fauna from the bion they reside within. For example, polar bears raised from the Arctic bion would be composed of ice. Scropions of the Arides (Arid Desert) bion are made from packed sand.
What is an Ancient?
Ancients are dragon like creatures that have always existed here on Earth. They are responsible for the health of our planet and its well being. Each Ancient cares for a specific bion and holds characteristics that tie it to their lands. It is their responsibility to ensure a symbiotic relationship with all things living under their ecological sphere. Their strength is directly tied to the well-being of the land. A weak and dying land means a weakend Ancient. The Ancients are the ones who gifted early humans with the "Speaker's Gift". There are only twenty-one different Ancients left in the world today, hundreds have perished since the Great War and ensuing Crusade. Ancients are now too weak to gift humans new abilities. Their fate remains on the humans whose ancestors they gifted millenia ago.
What is a cairn?
Cairns are responsible for generating mena from the Earth. They are piles of rocks found all over the planet and imbued with special properaties so that speakers can absorb mena with the reach of a hand. Larger cairns will be able to provide much more energy than smaller cairns. Where a cairn is constructed depends on what mena will be drawn.
What is mena?
Mena is a the energy needed to summon elems into existance. It is also the building material used to keep an elem comprised and in its true form. Each bion has a specific mena color.
What is a speaker?
A speaker is someone that has the "Speaker's Gift". This was an ability gifted to humans by the Ancients so that they could summon elems from the ground to help live in different environments. It became a blood-gene that was passed down through generations. Overtime it turned out that not all humans retained the gift, this led to the evental downfall of early civilizations (before they flourished on river beds). After the Great War, all Speakers were killed or took vows to never summon elems again. The descendents of those that took these vows are the only ones that can help save our planet. The gene remains in their blood, they just need to learn how to invoke the properties
